As much as I love to dive into the action early, I think the hero's journey is important - the idea that the reader needs to experience the protagonist's everyday life before you turn that world upside down.
You know, I might get married at 50 or 60, when it actually means something to say 'for the rest of my life.'
Apple is in a position they've been in a lot of times before. They're like Moses showing the way to the promised land, but they don't actually go there.
